Coaching Packages Benefit the Coach & the ClientBy ADD Coach Jennifer Koretsky Many ADD coaches charge clients per individual session, which works just fine if your clients are committed to the process. But we all know that ADDers have a tendency to start things and not finish them! Coaching is no exception. This is not only unfortunate for the client, who doesnt get to experience the magic of ADD coaching to its fullest, but it is also unfortunate for the coach, who struggles to make ends meet when clients suddenly drop off. Coaching packages solve this problem for both coach and client. Lets look at a practical example: Last month, I coached a coach named 'Mary.' Mary went through coach training last year and quit her nursing job about 6 months ago to become a full time coach. Since then, she has had a difficult time earning money by coaching. She was charging clients $75 for a 45-minute coaching session. She also encouraged her clients to call and email for brief check-ins when needed. She would ask her clients to commit to working with her in 3 sessions a month for about 3 months. What Mary was finding, however, was that her clients would commit to working with her for 3 months, but would pay for a single session and then make excuses as to why they couldnt book more. In the meantime, though, they were still emailing her, and she was emailing back! Her boundaries were not strong and she suffered for it, working hard to help clients who didnt pay her what she deserved. Mary and I revamped her services into a coaching package. Rather than offering single sessions, Mary began to offer a coaching package that included 3 45-minute sessions plus brief check-ins and phone calls for $250 per month. She also offered a 3-month package for $700, a discount of $50 when paid in advance. Mary was nervous when it came time to tell her clients about the new pricing structure. But much to Marys surprise, 2 clients who had been dragging their feet signed up for her coaching package. In addition, Mary met a physician at a neighbors party who thought her coaching package was a great idea, and requested a stack of her cards. (Which she ran home to get!) Offering your ADD coaching as a package helps the client follow through on their coaching goals, and helps you create a sustainable and predictable coaching income.
