Harv Eker seems to be in the media spotlight a lot recently, but I thought I would give you some background on this extraordinary individual.

Eker's struggle, tenacity and eventual success is great example of living The American Dream. Harv's childhood was spent in Canada, the son of immigrants from Europe, and then moved to the United States.To put food on the table Eker worked a multitude of different jobs.

Struggling to get through this difficult time is what prompted Eker to strike out on his own and start a business. Unfortunately, that business failed, and he actually went through a lot of failed investments before he was able to work out what he’d done wrong. He started thinking about the ways we all react to money and what we do with it, and how that relates to whether or not we succeed.

Ekers major revelation was that success is more dependent on our internalised processess than what we may be doing externally. It’s not luck - we all have financial blueprints that tell us what to do about money and whether or not to make good choices. The internal blueprints are easily influenced by our environment, parents, family, friends and the media.

On a positive note, a negative or unhelpful blueprint can be changed if you are prepared to put the work in. Changing how you think and react around money issues is a little harder than most would imagine. To be honest, if you don't actively engage with the process and choose to leave your pride at the door, then maybe Eker's teachings are not for you.
