Many places on the web will tell you that you can learn hypnosis right here on the spot. I know this because I'm one of those people. But is it actually possible to learn something online that requires real life skills?

You read about becoming a website engineer and become great at designing websites, while sitting at the computer.

But can you read everything there is to know about fishing and become a great fisherman? Even if you knew all the great places to fish and what bait to use, would you be thought of as a fisherman if you had never had you feet in the stream?

We don't live in a world of magic were everybody can pick the skills they want of a shelf and have them instantly integrated. You need practice if you want real life skills. Being a hypnotist means you need to practise these skills with real people. There is no easy way

Many people never get past this initial step of reading about hypnosis and watching Derren Brown Videos on YouTube. They never get around to doing just a single hypnotic induction. I spent a whole year of doing this myself.

When I finally started working with real people I realised that much of this time really wasn't worth. Because I was still really really bad at it. I just read out aloud from a piece of paper, but somehow still managed to get it to work.

My advice is, don't prolong this. You will have to put yourself in to situations that will make you a little uncomfortable no matter when you start. As my Hypnosis Mentor once said "Rather do two really crappy inductions today, than one perfect tomorrow"

As soon as you have done a bit of research and know the nuts and bolts of it. Start practising. It is not necessary to be good… Yet. Time for mastery will come later. Start somewhere comfortable or at least somewhere you can feel comfortable feeling uncomfortable and work you way forward.

There are many pitfalls in the online world of hypnosis, but also a lot of quality content. Have a look around and find the stuff that appeals to you. Find an online community that will give you the support and training need for you way to hypnosis mastery.
