Do you feel coaching a presidential candidate is a good or bad idea?

Can you answer TONI D's question about Coaching?:

In the recent interview with Sarah Palin, do you believe she was coached? If so, what are your feelings about coaching or being told what to say? Would you prefer the candidates to be able to think for themselves or reflect patented answers?

GOOD IDEA……it is done….ALL candidates are coached.

If you think coaching is not done, you are lost in a Disney movie.

She needs to be coached didn't you see her interview. Palin might have experience in a small town where everyone loves her, but this is the big leagues where having a good education matters.

I think candidates should be brought up to speed on policies and events, but not told what say. Being told what to say just leads to empty sound bites.

coached is an understatement

see that crock she "claims" to have meant about the war being "gods plan"

heck she couldn't hide the body language, we all knew she was lying

First of all, she's not a Presidential Candidate. But FYI Obama has been regularly coached as well. They ALL are. It is impossible for one person to know every single thing they need to know as a President or Vice President (or nominee) on their own. They are briefed and coached every single day.

Did she need extra coaching? YES.

All are coached, she just has too much to learn in a short period of time….I sort of wonder if she even understood/believed half of what she was reciting…I mean saying.

If they don't have a grasp of even the basics, Like Palin, coaching doesn't help.

I prefer them to think for themselves, but if your knowledge of Russia is that "You can see it from Alaska", you're in deep trouble in any case.
