Could a successful coach be successful coaching in a different sport altogether?

Can you answer Abby Normal's question about Coaching?:

In other words, do you think coaching principles could carry over to a different sport?

Thanks!
Didn't mean to imply that this pertains to me. It's just a generic type question!

Have you claimed your Genesis site?

just be confident in what your teaching, if you act like you know what your doing i think you can gt away with it! it shouldn't be too hard it's kind of like school teachers teach different sports…

Why Snot??!

I've carried coaching principles and even 'life' principles across to many fields quite successfully!

Although I was not a pianist, I do have a very musical understanding and disposition [from my mother], and coached our family to public concerts and one son to winning an Aust title.
I coached a basket ball team at only 21 who had never got off the bottom - during that season we became the 2nd best team by the end of the year.
I've coached Aust Footy teams, tennis squads to victories and I "coach"/tutor Maths and English.
A student who failed last year is now the top of his Maths class.

Life principles & faith apply across all.

Good luck with whatever you are trying.

I think the coaching principle applies to anything you are trying to teach. Its all about having patience and the desire to teach. I personally am a very bad teacher so I don't do it. But if someone has the opportunity and the willingness, I say go for it.

I think the basic leadership and motivational skills should carry over but an important part of coaching is a love of the sport you coach. That plays a key role in being a successful coach. If a person switches to a different sport they need to be sure they love that sport.
